SiMPTI - Standards in Music - Production - Technology & the Music Industry.

SiMPTI is a programme of training, learning and working experiences designed to provide access to a commercial recording studio and the tools used in creative production and recording, as well as workshops, masterclasses and music industry events delivered by music industry experts and product specialists, all taking place at Sound Gallery Studios and Phoenix Digital at Exeter Phoenix in Devon (UK).

This work experience programme is ideal for those who seek to gain real life experiences in a professional recording studio, get hands-on experience in the latest software and hardware innovations in music technology and get advice and guidance when choosing a career as a professional musician or technician.

Background Information
SiMPTI is designed and run by Sound Gallery CIC , a social enterprise founded in 2007, which exists to nurture, support and develop musicians and musical projects in the South West of England. The team consists of seasoned musicians, engineers, educators and producers working alongside a host of young, innovative sound engineers, producers and artists. Sound Gallery CIC runs Sound Gallery Studios, a professional recording studio situated at Exeter Phoenix, which provides a unique insight into a creative team at work and has an excellent track record in artist development, music production, education and in organising music industry events.

Bursary scheme & Partners
As a social enterprise, Sound Gallery has established a bursary scheme with an aim to support exceptional individuals who lack creative opportunities and access to resources and are at risk of social exclusion due to financial or social barriers. Our aspiration is to create partnerships with music technology companies, local businesses and benefactors which will enable us to offer 5 bursary spaces per year. These bursaries will enable talented individuals to acquire new skills and to experience and experiment with new and innovative music technology as a means of creating music.

Policies & Procedures
Sound Gallery has a full complement of policies and procedures covering all aspects of our work, including Child Protection Policy, Health and Safety, Quality Assurance, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Data protection policies. Sound Gallery has been inspected by the Devon County Council under the Devon Education Business Partnership Work Experience scheme for the last 3 years on a regular basis and has obtained a certificate of approval. Sound Gallery CIC is also Reach Achieved. This certificate has been awarded by the Youth Action network and reflects our focus on good practice involving volunteers as well as having all policies required in place.
